Why Use PsychServe?
The subject of mental health in the workplace is moving up the agenda for employers in the UK as research demonstrates the importance of psychological well-being in relation to our health and workplace productivity.
Every workplace in Britain is affected by mental health issues as one in four adults in the UK population will be experiencing mental health difficulties at any one time.
The total cost to UK employers of mental health problems amongst their staff is estimated to be nearly £26 billion each year. This equates to approximately £1,000 for every employee in the UK workforce (Sainsbury Centre for mental Health, 2007).
£8.4 billion a year is lost through sickness absence. 40% of sick leave is taken as a result of mental health problems which accumulate to approximately 70 million lost working days a year, one in seven of which is directly caused by a person’s work or working conditions.
£15.1 billion a year is lost as a result of reduced productivity at work, this is known as ‘presenteeism’ and accounts for 1.5 times as much working time lost as absenteeism.
£2.4 billion lost each year as companies have to replace staff who leave their jobs because of mental health problemsAs an independent local company, PsychServe is dedicated to promoting psychological well-being in the northeast of Scotland.
